We all love our favourite places to go to on holiday, we know the streets, favourite restaurants and fabulous shops. After a lovely long two week holiday to one of my favourite holiday destinations (St Ives, Cornwall), I thought I’d share my top Five Fabulous Shops You Must Visit if you ever go there.
St Ives if you’ve never been, is a wonderful harbour town right in the south of Cornwall. A long 6 hour drive for us from Cambridge. It has its own micro climate and when the sun is out its like being abroad. The beaches are full of families enjoying paddling in the sea and building sand castles. There are over 9 beaches to choose from as well so unless you’re going in the height of summer its not too overcrowded.
There are lots of lovely back streets all worth exploring, filled with galleries and quirky little gift shops and cafes. Generally the shops are open between ten and five. Many are quite small so you have to leave prams outside. Most welcome dogs in too.
There’s also the main shopping street called Fore Street. Crammed with lots of boutiques as well as a few high street shops like Crew, Joules, Mountain Warehouse and Boots. Fore Street is where my Five Fabulous Shops You Must Visit reside. There are no coffee shop chains, they are all individually owned which makes it a very local sand lovely shopping experience.
If you’re anything like us, we just park the car up for two weeks and stay in the town. There’s everything you need and unless you want to explore other areas on Cornwall, there’s no reason to go anywhere else.
So without further ado, here are my Five Fabulous Shops You Must Visit – In St Ives, Cornwall.
These are in no particular order, just my favourite 🙂

Chocoholic heaven! Handmade artisan chocolate in all sorts of shapes and flavours. Buckets and spades, lolly pops, bars. You name it, they’ve got it. They also do amazing hot chocolate spoons that you melt in hot milk, so creamy and delicious. Perfect gift shop for anyone you know who loves chocolate and reasonably priced too! Just remember not to pack it in your suitcase and leave it in your hot car – something we did on the way home. Should have put it in the cool bag! They also do Vegan chocolate.
What can I say, a beautiful children’s clothing boutique. Ranging from newborn to approx 5 years. The brands they have chosen to stock are high quality and they have a good range of sizes for each outfit. We even purchased a few bits from this shop before our small person was born not knowing the gender. Since then we’ve purchased a range of items from raincoats to leather slippers. If you love beautiful kids clothing then definitely worth a visit.
Ooh I love this shop! It’s crammed to the rafters with all sorts of goodies and gifts. They are all so beautiful I could buy everything. New fabric bags, to kids keepsakes, funky lunchboxes and beautiful ceramics. You just have to go in and just admire all the goodies. If you don’t come out with something I’d be suprised – Unless you’re a boy! Boys don’t appreciate such things! Ha ha
If you love fabric bags and all things handmade this is the shop for you. Wash bags, make up bags, tea towels, tea cosies, pencil cases, storage pots, phone cases! The list is endless, check out the online shop for more goodies. I always buy something in here, who doesn’t need another beautiful coin purse? The shop is quite small so you might miss it if you blink but keep your eyes peeled along Fore Street for it. I guarantee you’re in for a treat.
The Allotment Deli is conveniently located opposite Hudson St Ives, so once you’ve bought your gifts you can head over and pick up your groceries 🙂 This is a lovely little deli and we use it during our weekly stay to stock up on fresh fruit and veggies and we also buy a little bouquet of flowers to have in the apartment all week. They are so cute and only £5. Well worth a visit. Its also in the wider part of the street so its not so crazy in the busy times to get to.
There are obviously a whole load of beautiful shops in St Ives including lots of lovely jewellery shops and places to eat. I could list them but then you’d be reading this post all day!
I hope you enjoy my list and do take a look at their online shops, treat yourself!
I would love you to comment on this post and tell me all about your favourite places in St Ives, or whether you’ve never been before but are planning a trip. Maybe I can pass on some more recommendations!
